“I find that Sendai is a very “forgiving” city for me,
the atmosphere here is also calm and peaceful.”

Hi there! My name is Denilson and people usually call me Danny or デニ. I am from Indonesia and I started living in Sendai ever since I became a research student. Living in Sendai is quite comfortable as it is not as busy as Tokyo, and not as rural as a countryside. I find that Sendai is a very “forgiving” city for me, especially being a foreigner that can only communicate with basic spoken Japanese and minimum kanji reading skills. Moreover, the atmosphere here is also calm and peaceful, and the food is quite tasty as well.

Studying in IDAC, Tohoku University, is exciting and I am glad that I am continuing my master’s degree here. The professors are kind and supportive and other fellow students are also friendly and understanding. Also, the environment is very engaging and attracting me to do brainstorming for new research ideas. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 situation, social gatherings are not likely. So, aside from the current pandemic situation and adding the peaceful atmosphere of Sendai and together with the environment of IDAC, this all makes me feel that IDAC is the best place for studying. Thus, I feel that I am blessed for coming here to study.

いつもお世話になっております。今後、よろしくお願いします。
