“I’ve always hoped to one day study in Japan,

Ever since high school, I’ve always hoped to one day study in Japan, not only because I like the culture, but also because of the academic reputation of Japanese universities around the world. Four years ago, I was fortunate enough to come to Japan through my school’s study tour program where I was able to personally experience the atmosphere of being part of a laboratory as well as what it’s like to live in Japan. Since then, I was determined to definitely come back to do research after graduating.

Shortly thereafter, I was fortunate enough to be selected to join Professor Yasui’s laboratory at IDAC, Tohoku University. In Professor Yasui’s laboratory, I am busy every day and it is fulfilling as I feel that I am continuously improving myself, whether it be experimental skills or knowledge reserves. In addition, every member of the laboratory has been very kind and they have given me a lot of help in my life and studies, which makes me feel extremely warm and at ease as an international student. Moreover, studying at IDAC impressed me a lot, especially the strong research atmosphere and the busy and orderly life here has made me more self-disciplined.

Finally, the city of Sendai where I now live is very comfortable and suitable for life. Although it is not as metropolitan as Tokyo or Osaka, it is very convenient and has a beautiful environment. Being able to come here is definitely fulfilling a promise that I made to myself in the past, and from here on, it will become a new chapter in my life and my experiences here will become my wealth in the future.
