The Smart Aging International Research Center (SAIRC) Tokyo Liaison Office is in charge of the “Tohoku University Smart Aging College (SAC) in Marunouchi, Tokyo”, which consists of 40 faculty members from both the arts and sciences. Ever since the Japanese government set “healthy longevity” as its priority policy, research and development in the public has dramatically increased, but not so much in the private sector. Therefore, SAC Tokyo focuses on business development support activities that promote healthy life expectancy by promoting innovation of companies. Selected Tohoku University faculty members, who are experts in extending healthy life expectancy in the Smart Aging field, provide valuable support to senior management and staff in the private sector with cutting edge knowledge and wisdom, in order to help develop products and services for Smart aging while promoting meaningful collaboration between industry and academia.
