The aim of this laboratory is the development of new diagnosis tool and therapeutic devices including the artificial heart, ventricular assist device, and various artificial organs by the use of new technology in the Bio Medical engineering.
Our laboratory was the member in 21st century center of excellence program, Future biomedical engineering based on Bio Nano technology and is the member of the Global COE program Global Nano-biomedical Engineering Education and Research Network Centre.
Biomedical engineering research is promoted in all over the University in collaboration with Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering. A lot of tasks in Medical Engineering are studied in our laboratory and various bioengineering research including durability tests and preclinical studies are now undergoing.
Various project including Nano Artificial Myocardium, Artificial Sphincter, and Regenerative Medicine are now undergoing with development in the Network of various researchers in biomedical engineering.

In the Tohoku University Hospital, out patients clinic and cardiac catheterization study, and the ultrasonic cardio graphy are performed by the member of our laboratory in the department of cardiovascular surgery. Doctors graduated from our laboratory are now working in the department of Cardiology in the hospitals in this prefecture and a lot of collaboration is now undergoing, so the several clinical study are now planning.

Small group teaching (SGT) and high degree medical education of Tohoku University Medical School are performed in collaboration with friend doctors in these hospitals.

Various International clinical studies are now undergoing. For example, Atherosclerosis is severely progressed in Russia. 55% of Russian people died with cardiovascular events. IDAC & Smolensk State Medical Academy agreed the academic exchange and various clinical research concerning aging and atherosclerosis are now undergoing. Anzhen hospital in Beijing is only one hospital performing heart and lung transplantation in Beijing. We are carrying out the atherosclerosis study after organ transplantation.

Pocket Monster Shock accident is the most famous accident in broadcasting history in Japan. Based on this unfortunate accident, new diagnosis tool for autonomic function to the virtual reality immersion is invented by our team and various contents for audio visual machine is evaluated.

Based on these achievement, cooperative development of the remote Medical information devices with several companies including Sony, Wilcome, Fukuda, Omron, Honda and Net-one systems is now undergoing.
