Radioisotope Laboratory

In this institute there are two categories of radioisotope (RI) laboratories ; most research departments have their own room for RI experiments though the number of authorized RI species is limited; to fulfil requirements for use of a wider range of RIs (26 nuclides), especially those emitting high energy radiation, there is a special laboratory composed of 10 rooms including animal rooms, a cold room and a room for recombinant DNA experiments.

A computer program developed by Mr. K. Sato, the radiation protection officer in charge, is effectively working for analyses of ƒÀ-emitting radionuclides in waste water and of smear samples using data of their energy distribution.
