Major focus of our research is on the regulatory mechanisms of intracellular signaling related to growth, differentiation and stress responses of mammalian cells. We have been investigating the roles of protein prosphatases, which catalyze dephosphorylation of phosphoproteins, in regulation of cell signaling using biochemical, molecular cell biological and developmental biotechnological approaches. The following research projects are underway now:

  1. Investigation of roles of protein phosphatase 2C in regulation of cell signaling related to cell growth and stress responses.
  2. Cloning and analysis of novel protein phosphatases 2C genes.
  3. Investigation of roles of protein phosphatases in regulation of neural cell differentiation.
  4. Clarification of significance of microtubule associated protein phosphatases.
