About IDAC
Misson
IDAC is a unique institute affiliated with national universities that promote aging sciences. It was approved as a Joint Usage /Research Center for Aging Research and plays a center of excellence in this field.
As Japan became a top rank super-aging society in the world, needs and expectation for aging research is becoming larger and larger. The purpose of our institute are to clarify basic mechanisms of aging, as well as to control age-related diseases, such as dementia and intractable cancers. To get the goal, we have promoted researches under 3 major streams, which are (1) molecular mechanisms of aging and self defense system, (2) molecular mechanism of carcinogenesis and cancer growth, and (3) brain maturation and aging. Our ultimate goal is to realize “smart aging”, which refer development and maturation of individual abilities, as he/she is getting older.
