3T-MRI(Magnetic resonance imaging)

The 3.0T-MRI (Phillips Achieva 3.0T MRI) measures brain activity by detecting altered regional blood flow signals in the brain generated by a high magnetic field. The 3.0T-MRI enables us to measure brain activity in a very high spatial resolution (in millimeters). This device can also examine the correlations between volumes of gray and white matter and various factors which affect volume by using the voxel-based morphometry (VBM) method and by fiber tracking using diffusion tensor imaging technology. Some of the advantages of the 3.0T-MRI are that, by its ultra-high magnetic field of 3.0 tesla, research results can be obtained even if the number of subjects who meet the study’s criteria is small. Also, the time required for the experiments is shortened, lessening the burden on subjects. In fMRI experiments, voice recording and eye-movement measurement are dealt with simultaneously. Thus, the 3.0T-MRI is a state-of-the-art device for fMRI experiments.
